Primary Portfolio

NCIF's Primary Portfolio is comprised of equity and debt investments in development-oriented banks and credit unions.

NCIF invests equity or debt of up to $2,000,000, structuring investments to meet the needs of the institution. NCIF investments can support institutions to leverage deposit growth, boost lending capacity, increase legal lending limits, increase flexibility in structuring loans, provide capital to implement new development programs or for expansion, and offer liquidity to existing shareholders who may want an exit or not favor a development orientation.

NCIF’s due diligence process revolves around the Model CDBI Framework and generally involves the following steps:

  1. Secondary Data & Market Analysis
    • Annual Reports
    • Regulatory Financial Statements
    • 3-5 Year Financial Forecasts
    • Strategic Plans
  2. In Depth Discussion with Management on -
    • Mission Focus
    • Need for Capital
  3. Site Visit
    • Analysis of Credit Files & Financial Statements
  4. Meeting with Key Management & Board of Directors

Upon successful completion of the process, the NCIF investment is presented to its Board of Trustees for approval.
