United Bank of Philadelphia, the only African American controlled and managed community bank in Philadelphia, was chartered in 1992 by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Bank conducts an array of banking services through three branches. Designated as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), the Bank’s top priority remains the betterment of the local communities it serves by ensuring that small businesses and non-profit organizations have access to needed capital and that traditionally underserved individuals have access to affordable banking services.
The primary mission of United Bank of Philadelphia is to make the Bank the “hometown” business bank of choice. The Bank’s goal is to foster economic development by providing quality, personalized banking services to businesses and individuals in the Greater Philadelphia region, with a special sensitivity to African Americans, Hispanics, Asians and women.
